Tchibo, headquartered in Hamburg, is one of Germany’s biggest international consumer goods and retail companies.
Some 40 years after its establishment in Germany in 1949, the company literally crossed the border: in the 1990s, Tchibo made the leap from national business to internationally successful corporation. Excellent performance and resolute expansion in Central and Eastern Europe turned Tchibo into one of Europe’s leading coffee distributors. Apart from its international presence by means of subsidiaries in Turkey, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Russia, Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain, Tchibo is engaged in export activities all over the world.
The company has a Multi-Channel distribution system with its own shops, strong Internet sales and a comprehensive presence at a wide range of retail outlets. Tchibo has about 12,500 employees and stands for a unique business model combining unsurpassed expertise in roasted coffee with the surprise element of a weekly changing array of items of daily use like fashion, technology etc. What all these products have in common is that they cater to the genuine interest in the things its customers love and don’t have (yet). Nevertheless, the passion of Tchibo is coffee – so Tchibo is the world’s fourth-largest coffee producer, the roasted-coffee market leader in four European countries and a leader in the European out-of-home market for coffee.
