Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL QUESTIONS

1. How can I apply?

Apply on our website www.careersineurope.com by completing the application form and attaching a CV in English. Please do not send us any applications via email.

2. Will my details be used for other recruitment opportunities once I have registered online for a specific position or event?

Once you register, your details will be added to our database and you will be contacted when a position that matches your background and skills arises.

3. How can I update my details and my CV?

You can log in to www.careersineurope.com to update your profile or your details or to upload a new CV. After logging in, please go to CV/resume under the heading "my account +".

4. How can I be sure that my record is not seen by my employer?

We will ensure that your details are kept confidential from the employers that you have specified in the application form under "my CV shouldn’t be presented to".

5. What happens with my personal data?

We will not release your personal information to any external party without your permission. You will only receive emails from CIE or our clients, informing you of positions for which you may wish to apply. If you want your data to be removed from the CIE database, please send an email to info@careersineurope.com.

6. What happens after I have registered?

You will receive an email from the CIE team confirming your registration. You will then be informed of any relevant opportunities via email or telephone.

7. Do I have to answer all the questions on the registration form?

No. You only need to answer the questions marked with an asterisk (*). However, the more questions you answer, the better your chances of being selected for an interview. You do not have to answer all the questions at once as you can save the form and return to it when it suits you.

LIVE EVENT QUESTIONS

1. What is the target candidate group of Careers in Europe (CIE)?

We focus on final-year university students and early-career professionals with up to 5 years’ work experience and an excellent academic track record (at least bachelor level). Candidates should be fluent in English and at least one other European language.

You may still apply but in the selection process priority will be given to people who met the deadline.

3. How can I be sure that my application was submitted correctly?

Log in to www.careersineurope.com with your personal email address and password and check under "Event status". If you have submitted your application correctly, your status should be 'applied'.

4. How and when will I know if I have been selected for the event and if I have any interview(s)?

The selection of the candidates will be done by our consultants according to the criteria that each participating company gives us. As soon as a company informs us of its selection, we will inform the selected candidates by email specifying the company and the role. This will be about 3 weeks before our event

5. When do I receive my interview schedule?

You will receive your schedule when you check in to the event.

6. Where does the event take place?

The venue for the event is confidential and is only communicated to invitees. Invitees will find the exact address, practical details and additional travel information by clicking on "more event info +" in their personal profile.

7. How many companies can I expect at a live event?

Please check the list of attending companies regularly on www.careersineurope.com for updates.

8. What is best practice concerning my CV during a Career in Europe Event?

Bring printed copies of your CV to distribute - you may also wish to add a suitable professional picture.

9. How is contact with the different companies attending the event organised?

Each participating company has a hospitality room where you can introduce yourself and arrange additional interviews.

10. Are there any other costs for the candidates besides travel and accommodation costs ?

Participation in the event is free. Candidates receive a sandwich lunch, coffee, CV coaching and a city tour.

11. Are there any jobs on offer apart from those listed on the Careers in Europe event website?

All jobs are posted under http://www.careersineurope.com/jobs (event job). However, some companies might have other open positions. Check directly with the company representatives at the event.

12. What kind of interviews can I expect at the event?

Each interview will last between 30 minutes and one hour. With some companies candidates might have more than one interview. The interviews arranged are all real first-round interviews - the exact interview structure depends on the company.

13. What is the dress code at the event?

We advise you to dress in business attire. First impressions count.

14. Is there any way to check whether Careers in Europe received all the information concerning my attendance?

We contact the candidate if we have a problem with the confirmation. If you do not hear from us, then we have received all the information correctly.

15. Why have I not been invited to the event?

There are various possible reasons for this:
- You may have received the invitation email from us, but it may be sitting in your Junk Mail folder
- Companies give us a list of very specific requirements, including qualifications, experience and language skills. It may be that you do not exactly match any of their profiles and therefore have not been selected. You may still be eligible for other opportunities that arise, so please keep your details and CV updated

ONLINE EVENT QUESTIONS

1. What is an online recruiting event?

An online event is an event where a company with specific recruiting needs introduces itself, its business and its team through online interactive tools such as video, PowerPoint presentation, webcast and chat.

2. How does an online recruiting event work?

To access the event website, you need to register and upload your CV. During the day of the event you will learn more about the company, its business and its plans through PowerPoint presentations on specific topics, testimonial webcasts of future colleagues and live chats with recruiters and line managers. If you are interested in an open position and match the profile sought, you can apply online - all from any computer, wherever you are.

3. I am not available on the day of the event. Can I still register and apply for open positions?

Yes. On the day of the event, there is real-time interaction between you and the company representatives. However, after the event day, you can watch the event which was recorded and apply for any open position for approximately 3 more weeks.

4. What happens after the event?

The company organising the event takes over from Careers in Europe, screens all applications and contacts those candidates that match its recruitment needs.
